Motion Picture Stills
The Motion Picture Stills, Posters and Paper Collection at George Eastman House has approximately three million items, including letters, scripts, musical scores, lobby cards, posters, film stills, and celebrity portraits. The Collection may be consulted by appointment for research purposes. Contact: email@example.com. Reproductions are available to commercial and non-commercial institutions, as well as to individuals.
George Eastman House and the Motion Picture Department do not grant or imply copyright clearance for any of the images obtained from the Motion Picture Stills Collection. The individual or institution requesting images must clear copyright for any publication of potentially copyright protected material. George Eastman House is not liable for any infringement of copyright by those requesting images from the collection. Stills provided by the Museum may not be copied or altered without the written consent of George Eastman House.

Fees and Formats
Digital Reproductions of Photographs
All photographs are scanned at 300 dpi. Scans at a higher resolution, depending on the order, may carry an additional charge. Prices are the same for color or black and white images. However, an additional charge may be applied to accommodate requests for custom adjustments to color or black & white images ($60/hour, billed in 15 minute increments).

The George Eastman House Motion Picture Department strongly supports academic and personal research projects and will do its best to keep the access and use fees for its images to a minimum.

Delivery of Images
Digital images can be delivered as TIF or jpeg files. Jpeg files can be emailed to you. If ordering a TIF file, it will be delivered on CD or DVD by mail, with a shipping charge added to your invoice.
Digital prints are $15 each, in addition to the access and scanning fees described above. A shipping charge will also apply.

*Charges may be doubled for any requests made within two weeks of the delivery date. Time of delivery varies according to the number of stills requested.
**Note: The scanning and photocopying of paper materials is done at the discretion of the archivist, depending on the condition of the materials. We do not provide photocopies of photographs, nor photocopies or scans of fragile, rare or valuable documents.
Frame Enlargements — Special Order
For copy requests involving photographic images or motion picture frame enlargements for collection materials in which copyright clearance is required, it is the responsibility of the requestor to provide verifiable evidence that prior copyright clearance and/or owner permission has been obtained before any order can be processed. No prior permission is required for works known to be in the public domain.
Frame enlargements may be obtained by two methods:
Method 1: Staff will view the film print, locate the desired film frame, and make a digital copy. Digital copies will be sent as TIF or Jpeg files by e-mail, CD-ROM, or as a hard copy.

Method 2:Researchers can select images of their own choice in person by scheduling a research appointment in the Motion Picture Study Center (585-271-3361 ext. 334) to view a film under staff supervision. Appointments must be made at least three weeks in advance. The rate is $15.00 per hour. Once images are selected, digital copies will be made in the above-specified formats and delivered within ten business days at the following rates:

Allow 2-6 weeks for delivery, depending on the size of the order and staff time required for research and location of specific images.
Non-profit and Academic Use
No additional access fee will be charged for use of images in academic and not-for-profit applications.
Commercial Use Restrictions:
Limited to a one time use only in a printed publication, or other digital work created for broadcast or internet distribution. No secondary sale or re-use of image content provided by GEH without the expressed permission of the GEH Motion Picture Department
