NEW: History of the Tintype
On Wednesday August 7, 2013 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at George Eastman House
In response to many requests, this is a special one-day lecture class for those who wish to learn more about the tintype, but are not interested in the hands-on experience. Includes lectures on the evolution of the Melainotype and Ferrotype (also known as the tintype), a demonstration of the process, and viewing original images and tintype-era equipment from the extensive collection of the George Eastman House.
All participants receive a notebook with reprints from the Museum's collection of collodion-era literature and an actual 19th-century tintype sample.
Audience: Limited to 10, this class is designed for students, teachers, historians, writers, and anyone interested in the evolution of the tintype. It is scheduled specifically so that those who are attending the two-day tintype making workshops immediately before or after may attend to broaden their understanding of the tintype.
Tuition: $175/$150 members, plus $10 materials fee
Cancellation Policy: Withdrawal from the workshop two weeks before the session start date will receive a refund, minus a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than two weeks before a workshop start date. If the workshop is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class will be fully refunded. The Eastman House is not responsible for airline ticket cancellation costs or fees. The Eastman House may take and use images, still or video, for educational and promotional purposes.
