NEW: Spirit Photography
From October 21, 2013 through October 24, 2013 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at George Eastman House
Make your own ghost images in our first ever Spirit Photography Workshop. You’ll begin by learning the basics of making wet collodion tintypes by process historian Mark Osterman in the famous Scully & Osterman Skylight Studio. Then you’ll be shown the 19th-century secrets of making ghost imagery in a workshop that promises to be a great experience for everyone.
Techniques include multiple imagery, ghost imagery, controlled image deterioration, and creating mist, smoke, and darting energy. Tinting and burnishing tintypes will also be included. All participants will receive a copy of the new Scully & Osterman basic collodion manual, including formulas and sources of supply, as well as additional wet plate era readings pulled from the research library.
Audience: Limited to 8 participants. For anyone who wants to have a lot of fun and learn tintype making at the same time. No prior experience with collodion imagery or association with ghosts is required.
Tuition: $575/$550 members, plus $60 materials fee
Cancellation Policy: Withdrawal from the workshop two weeks before the session start date will receive a refund, minus a $50 processing fee.
