Tintype Excursion on the Erie Canal
From June 2, 2014 through June 6, 2014 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at George Eastman House
Based on the enthusiastic response from last year, we are once again offering a truly unique experience to relive the wet plate canal excursions of the 1870s. Guided by Mark Osterman, the group will travel on a 42-foot canal boat along the Erie Canal through step locks and picturesque scenery. Along the way we will tie up along the canal bank, set up a portable darkroom, and participants will shoot their own whole plate (6 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch) wet collodion tintypes. Tuition includes two nights’ lodging at the Vintage Gardens bed & breakfast during the three-day excursion.
Day 1: Basic instruction in tintype making at George Eastman House.
Day 2: Shooting along the Erie Canal. Group stays in a bed & breakfast.
