National acts on roster for Eastman House's 15th annual Garden Vibes summer concert series
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Garden Vibes summer concert series at George Eastman House, marking
its 15th year, boasts a variety of national acts. Concerts will take the stage in the Townson Terrace
Garden in July and August. You can dance the night away and enjoy a picnic supper, while at the same
time basking in George Eastman's historic garden and grounds, with an array of activities offered
for kids.

Thursday, July 10
Tcheka
An alluring hybrid of sun-kissed jazz and traditional African music from singer-guitarist Tcheka,
a native of Cape Verde, and his trio. This Garden Vibes concert is presented in conjunction with the
Eastman House summer exhibition series "Africas."
Thursday, July 24
The Shuffle Demons
Wild suits, berets, and goatees! Experience wild free-jazz improvisations and hip tunes with
Toronto-based The Shuffle Demons, which play a version of acid jazz they call "Cyber-Jazz" or "Trip-Hop."
Thursday, Aug. 7
Campbell Brothers
Gospel music featuring electric steel guitar and vocals. Chuck, Phil, and Darick Campbell are an
anointed group of accomplished guitarists who say their instruments are tuned to the key of the holy
spirit. The Campbell Brothers, based in Rochester yet internationally celebrated, were raised in the
"sacred steel" style, a rare music tradition rooted in the African-American Holiness-Pentecostal
church.

The Boilermaker Jazz Band
The Boilermaker Jazz Band of Pittsburgh performs authentic hot jazz and swing. The group has a wide
repertoire that can make an audience swing to a classic jazz standard, get sentimental over an old-time
ballad, boogie to a hot jump tune, or get low-down with gritty blues. (Free swing-dance lessons offered
before the concert!)
Concerts are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. All concerts will be held rain or shine.
Bring blankets and/or chairs and your own picnic fixings, or purchase concessions on-site from Dinosaur
Bar-B-Que and Abbott's Frozen Custard. Please note, there will be no cash bar but you may bring your own
beverages, plus a variety of non-alcoholic beverages will be sold.
Admission for each concert: $15 adults; $10 members; $5 youths (ages 13Ð18); and free to 12 and under,
and includes George Eastman House admission and a variety of children's activities, including games and
a bounce house. Advance tickets are not required; you can pay at the gate. Major support for Garden
