“Eastman House trustees all share a passion for the art and technology of photography and moving images—and their preservation for future generations,” said Schwartz. “Eastman House is a treasure, and is uniquely positioned as the leader in all areas of the image. We may be headquartered in Rochester, but our influence and expertise are felt around the world.”

Schwartz is the president and CEO of TCA, which operates thirty health and racquet clubs, corporate fitness centers, and hospital wellness centers in North America, and is also the managing partner of Columbia Equities, LP, a real estate investment company. In addition to George Eastman House, he serves on the boards of Vi, the leader in upscale senior living; the Foundation for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America; and Chicago Run, an organization providing running programs to 17,000 elementary school students. Schwartz received a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration in Ithaca. He and his wife, Claudia, currently reside in Glencoe, Illinois, they have three children.

“At George Eastman House we are continually expanding our national and global presence each year by welcoming international scholars and students to our renowned film preservation and photographic conservation schools, and by sustaining partnerships worldwide with other museums, film archives, and research centers,” said Bruce Barnes, Ron and Donna Fielding Director, George Eastman House. “In addition, our board of trustees also broadens our reach, with trustees currently living in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Palm Beach, Toronto, and London. Our new chair of the board, Steve Schwartz, is passionate about sharing our institution’s collections and expertise throughout the world, and we are thrilled to have him as our new board leader.”
